Originally from Northern Ontario, Daina has called Nova Scotia home since 1994 when she moved to the east coast to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. As a professional artist and entrepreneur, she expresses her passion coastal life and wanderlust through different mediums, mainly oil painting, encaustic (beeswax and pigment) painting, and map collages. Through self-representation and social media, she strives to raise environmental and ecological awareness of our water planet through surf-inspired artworks by connecting with fans and ocean cultures around the world.
Her oil paintings are in collections throughout Canada, USA, UK, and Australia. Locally, her art can be found at her Ocean Art Studio booth at the Halifax Seaport Market every weekend, and in the form of a large mural at Halifax's Lululemon Athletica store, as well as in select shops and boutique galleries in Nova Scotia and New England.
